What was the Land Before?
Until 1999 the land that is now being developed for a park was originally a small hotel. The hotel was torn down in 1999 and has since been an empty lot until recently. This land was bought by a group of people to turn it into a park for the kids.
Why Build a Community Park?
28 million kids throughout the United States don’t have a park within a 10-minute walk from their home. In Ski Run neighborhoods in South Lake Tahoe, this isn’t a mere statistic it is the real living experience for more than 4,000 people.
The Building of the Park
This park isn’t just for the community, they are being involved in the whole building process as well. Over 20 kids from the local elementary school and boys and girls club were asked to draw sketches of what they envisioned this park to look like. The elements from those designs were incorporated into the designs for the park.
Your help is needed to continue to make this park a safe place for the kids in the community to play. If you want to donate you can click here.
