FALL INTO ART
To show off Truckee’s coveted California Cultural District designation and highlight its diverse cultural offerings, Visit Truckee created FALL INTO ART, a fall festival bringing all offerings into one season-long celebration this September and October. Experience a wide range of artistic and cultural offerings, including visual, performance, written, culinary, and musical work; historical tours, talks, and tributes; and recreational opportunities that honor the mountain lifestyle.
7th Annual Fireworks Spectacular on Gar Woods Beach
Don’t miss the 7th Annual Labor Day Fireworks Spectacular over Lake Tahoe in Carnelian Bay. Gar Woods and The Monte Foundation host this show each year to raise tens of thousands of dollars for various school sports programs in North Tahoe and Truckee. 100% of the proceeds go to the schools! This is a free show and many have said it’s the best fireworks show they’ve seen.

The Great Reno Balloon Race
Experience the world’s largest free hot-air balloon festival. Soaring high above the Reno skyline, upwards of 80+ beautiful hot-air balloons take flight. It has been one of Reno’s most colorful and spectacular events for over three decades and is located just 2 miles from downtown Reno! Sure, it might be a bit earlier than you’re used to, but it’s worth the wake! Accolades include “Best Special Event in Reno” and “Best Special Event in Northern Nevada.”

Reno Snaffle Bit Futurity
The Reno Snaffle Bit Futurity is a showcase for the Spanish Vaquero’s horse training methods dating back to the early American West. The competition is a family-friendly, adrenaline-charged sports event for all horse enthusiasts. Three-year-old equine athletes compete in herd work, rein work and fence work and the 2019 competition will include the 2nd annual Wild Spayed Filly Futurity – featuring mustangs trained in the cow horse ways! Shoppers can enjoy western vendors offering a variety of clothing, art, jewelry, gear and supplies.

Stihl National Championship Air Races
The National Championship Air Races combines the world’s fastest motor sport with spectacular military and civilian air entertainment to offer the most unique air racing event in the world. Spartan Race World Championship
For the fifth year in a row, the Spartan Race World Championship will take place right here in Squaw Valley. The world’s best athletes will collide on the course with a shared goal: to be the Spartan Race World Champion. The most anticipated obstacle racing weekend of the year will feature four Spartan Race distances to choose from over two days of racing. Come cheer on your friends and family or just watch as these incredible athletes compete for the title of “Spartan Race World Champion.” A special Funitel Access Ticket will be available Saturday and Sunday for access to the upper mountain course, see details below.
