Many businesses around the Truckee-Tahoe area have been affected by the closures caused by COVID-19. If you would like to help, consider participating in a few of the new programs launched to help ease the economic hardships faced by local businesses.
Support Local Small Businesses and Non-Profit Organizations
First, the Truckee Chamber has posted a directory of local businesses that are open during the COVID Pandemic. If you would like to support Truckee small businesses, visit the directory on the Truckee Chamber website.
Second, most of the local businesses listed offer gift cards that can be purchased at the Truckee Tahoe Gift Cards website. Over 70 local businesses are listed. Shoppers can sort by location or categories including activities, lodging, retail, health and wellness, restaurants and bars, and services. From the purchasing portal, customers can click on “Purchase a Gift Card” and be linked to a business website where gift cards can be purchases.
Third, you may help Truckee by donating to Truckee Fundraising Needs. The COVID-19 pandemic has taken a toll on individuals, businesses and nonprofits, leaving many in critical need of support. Truckee was hit especially hard because our economy depends on visitors and the ski industry, shut down mid-season. So many have stepped up to help out – donating, volunteering, caring for higher risk and senior neighbors, and feeding those in need and on the front lines. From regional emergency funds to businesses creating their own GoFundMe campaigns for their employees, there are many opportunities for those who are able to donate. Please donate if you can and refer those who need help to resources available.
