Truckee Residents Excited About the New Library

November 12, 2021 by Chris Carroll

Featured image showing a design rendering of the new Truckee LibraryLibraries are the fabric of a community. They speak to its values, its needs, and its interests. That is why the residents of Truckee are excited about their new library.

Earlier this year, the county of Nevada and the town of Truckee among others came together to put into action plans to create a new Truckee library. The new library will allow our community to gather and connect, experience arts and culture programming, engage in events and learn new skills, and access resources and books, both print and digital.

On August 6th, the county of Nevada and the town of Truckee among others came together to put into action plans to create a new Truckee library. The new library will allow our community to gather and connect, experience arts and culture programming, engage in events and learn new skills, and access resources and books, both print and digital.

History

The original building was built in 1975 when the population of Truckee was only 2,000. It has been in operation for over 50 years. It has been something that connections the community. Some of these ways are

  • offering a safe space for all residents and visitors regardless of background, income, and ethnicity
  • programming for all ages
  • a resource library and book repository
  • community support services
  • literacy initiatives

Reason For Change

Truckee is now home to over 20,000 people and is continuing to grow exponentially. The town is changing to accommodate more people the library should be one of those things. The library should stand to show how diverse and inspiring the people in its community truly are.
