It’s dumping snow up here and most of us are thrilled about it! If you are selling your home this winter, don’t fret. Even though selling in the winter can feel like a drag, remember that this is Tahoe and we attract snow and ski enthusiasts. A lot of snow can be a real selling point to the right buyer. Read these tips to make your home as attractive as possible and give it some curb appeal even if it’s buried under the snow.
Tip #1 – Shovel the Walkways
Clear enough of the driveway and the walkway to the front door so that buyers don’t need to blaze through a path of snow just to enter. If you can’t stay on top of it, hire a snow removal company. Not only does it make it more inviting for buyers, but it avoids potential safety and liability concerns.
Tip #2 – Don’t Give in to the Winter Blahs
Don’t let your home look dole and bare. Pops of color by the entryway, like a seasonal wreath, can add some interest and cheer. A few seasonal decorations are all that is needed. Don’t go overboard with the holiday cheer :).
Tip #3 – Clean the Windows
Scuffs, fingerprints, and streaks are more apparent in the wintertime because there isn’t the usual foliage to shelter and diffuse the sunlight. Cleaning the windows can ensure that your place looks pristine.
Tip #4 – Update the Photos
We all know that photos do most of the initial selling. Don’t use out-of-date photos. If it’s winter, update the MLS photos to winter shots. We don’t want the buyer to get nervous that your house has been sitting on the market for months and months. Updated photos will make your listing seem fresh.
Tip #5 – Turn Up the Heat
Now is not the time to skimp on the heat. Turn the heat up before you leave for showings. Stick to 68 – 70 degrees Fahrenheit to keep everyone comfy. A comfortable temperature will make the house feel homier and more welcoming. It also gives the impression that the house is energy-efficient and well insulated.
We hope these tips help you to sell your home. If you want to learn more or speak with a local expert and snow enthusiast, contact the Carroll Team at 800.470.0045.
